Flamingoes Football Club is a Nigerian professional football club based in Benin City, Edo State. The club was founded in 1954 and currently competes in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
History
Flamingoes FC was founded in 1954 by a group of young men in Benin City. The club quickly rose through the ranks of Nigerian football and won its first league title in 1965. Flamingoes FC has also won the Nigeria FA Cup on three occasions, in 1966, 1975, and 1988.
The club's most famous player is Stephen Keshi, who went on to captain the Nigeria national team and win the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations. Other notable players who have played for Flamingoes FC include Victor Ikpeba, Osaze Odemwingie, and Obafemi Martins.
Recent seasons
Flamingoes FC has struggled in recent years, finishing outside the top four of the Nigeria Professional Football League in each of the last five seasons. However, the club is hoping to return to its former glory in the near future.
