The team was founded in 2008 by friends Scott Whittaker and Graham Pelling. They entered the New Newark Youth League at Under 11 level for the 2008/9 season and finished in a respectable 5th place.
In January 2012 the club was awarded the first level of the Charter Standard Accreditation, which is awarded for high standards of coaching, administration and child protection.
The club has grown year on year and now has 8 teams and a soccer school. They play their home games at Balderton Playing Field.

Fernwood Foxes Reds are currently in their third season in the New Newark Youth League Under 14 division. They are currently in 6th place, with 10 points from 7 games.
