FC Argyle were founded in 2016 by a group of friends who wanted to create a football team in Alexandria. The team started out playing in the West of Scotland Amateur Football League, and they won promotion to the West of Scotland Football League in 2020.
FC Argyle have a youth team that plays in the West of Scotland Youth Football League. The youth team has won several trophies, including the West of Scotland Youth Cup in 2021.
