The team is named after Aneal Shrestha, a local businessman and philanthropist. Shrestha is a passionate supporter of football and wanted to create a team that would give young people in the area the opportunity to play the game.
FC Aneal Karnali has been a successful team since its inception. They have won the Karnali League title twice, in 2017 and 2019. They have also reached the final of the Nepal Cup on two occasions.
The team is managed by Arjun Lama, a former professional footballer. Lama is a highly respected figure in Nepali football and has helped to develop many young players.
The team's home ground is the Aneal Shrestha Stadium in Kathmandu. The stadium is a small but well-maintained facility.
