He was a regular in the team for the next five seasons, even after Bristol City were relegated to the Third Division South in 1931-32. He retired from playing in 1936.

Ernie Hunt was a forward who played for Bristol City, Swindon Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton, Coventry City, Doncaster Rovers, and the Los Angeles Wolves. He was born in Bristol in 1943 and started his career with Bristol City in 1961. He scored 100 goals in 202 appearances for the club, before moving to Swindon Town in 1966. He won the League Cup with Swindon in 1969, before moving to Wolves in 1970. He won the FA Cup with Wolves in 1974, and was also named the PFA Player of the Year. He retired from playing in 1978.
