The team was founded in 2007 as Cestria Girls. They merged with South Durham Ladies in 2012 to form South Durham Cestria LFC. The club changed its name to Durham Cestria Ladies First in 2018.
Durham Cestria Ladies First have won the Durham County Cup on four occasions, most recently in 2022. They have also reached the quarter-finals of the FA Women's Cup on two occasions.
