History
Crossgates Primrose was founded in 1921 by a group of local footballers. The club quickly rose through the ranks of the Sheffield & District League, and in 1934 they were promoted to the Premier Division. Crossgates Primrose remained in the Premier Division until the outbreak of World War II.
After the war, Crossgates Primrose returned to the Premier Division. The club enjoyed a successful period in the 1950s and 1960s, winning the league championship on several occasions. In 1970, Crossgates Primrose reached the final of the Sheffield Cup, but they were defeated by Dronfield Town.
In recent years, Crossgates Primrose have struggled to maintain their former success. The club has been relegated from the Premier Division on several occasions. However, Crossgates Primrose remain a popular club in the Sheffield area, and they continue to attract a large number of supporters.
