Clapton United were founded in 2019. They started out playing in the Wishaw and District Football League, and were promoted to the West of Scotland Football League Third Division in 2021. They finished bottom of the league in their first season, but were reprieved from relegation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2022, Clapton United moved to the Cherry Red Books Middlesex County Football League Premier Division. They are currently in 10th place in the table.
