Chester-le-Street Town FC is a football club based in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, England. They are currently members of the Northern Premier League Division One East, the eighth tier of the English football league system.
The club was founded in 1875 and has played at its current ground, the Chester-le-Street Arena, since 1989. They have won the Northern League First Division on three occasions (1982, 1991, and 2004) and the Northern Premier League Division One North on one occasion (2017).
History
Chester-le-Street Town FC was founded in 1875 and played its first match against Durham City on 22 September of that year. The club joined the Northern League in 1908 and remained in the league until 1974, when they were relegated to the Wearside League.
Chester-le-Street Town FC rejoined the Northern League in 1981 and won the First Division title in 1982. They were promoted to the Premier Division in 1983, but were relegated back to the First Division in 1988.
The club moved to its current ground, the Chester-le-Street Arena, in 1989. They won the First Division title again in 1991 and were promoted to the Premier Division for a second time.
Chester-le-Street Town FC won the Northern Premier League Division One North title in 2017, their first title at that level. They were promoted to the Premier Division, but were relegated back to Division One North in 2019.
