The club was founded in 1972 as Chadderton Community AFC. They changed their name to Chadderton Cott AFC in 1994.
The club have won the Lancashire and Cheshire AFL Premier Division on three occasions, in 2009, 2018, and 2019. They have also won the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy on two occasions, in 2018 and 2019.
