History
Cádiz has spent most of its history in the second and third tiers of Spanish football. The club's most successful period came in the 1980s, when they won the Copa del Rey in 1981 and finished fifth in La Liga in 1985.
Cádiz has also competed in European competition on several occasions. The club reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1988 and the UEFA Cup in 1990.
