More about the team

Introduction

We are a new 11 aside Sunday league team in the Wallasey division two on the Wirral. We were formed in 2013 by Mr Dave McCarthy and Gill McCarthy. We are hoping to have a productive season on and off the field this season as a team.

History

In the early 90's and 2000's the team was known as the Blu fc. The team was at the time finishing bottom of the league and conceding the goals in the bucket full. This did not matter as the team was known for its family orientated feeling between players and staff members, and despite being beaten every week kept a good morale.

In the 2008-2009 season a change of name was introduced to the club as well as a change in management with Dave McCarthy taking the hot seat, at the newly named Mackenzie FC. The first season in charge saw a change in fortune as the club recorded its first mid table position since being founded.

In the 2009-2010 season the teams best ever finish was recorded finishing 3rd in the table and the semi final in the cup. With help from top goal scorer George Brooks with 19 goals and closely followed by Paul Wallace(15) and Simon Parsonage(14) the club earned promotion to the Wallasey division 1.

The team also recorded it best ever defensive record by conceding 39 goals the entire season this left us with a superior positive goal difference.

The highlight of this season had to be in the final game of the season against Irby FC a team we had never beaten. The team ran out 7-1 winners with captain Jonny McCarthy scoring with a powerful header with the last kick of the season to round of the biggest ever win for the club.

The 2010-2011 season was a disappointing one for the club with the team only recording 2 victories for the season. The club finished bottom of the league and finished in the relegation zone. Although the team stayed up by default as numerous teams dropped out the league.

The 2011-2012 season saw key players leave the club and new players come in. The team made it to mid November before resigning from the league and disbanding as a team due to lack of players, the stress of being beaten week in week out and numerous other reasons.

The 2012-2013 season saw many players try there hand at different clubs before finally agreeing to come back and start the team again.

The 2013-2014 season has saw us change are name once more we are now the Cavendish FC and we have added many players to are old squad and are getting ready for the start of are season. While training hard and looking to win each game the family feeling between staff and players has been kept in the squad. The team may not be made of individual stars, but as a team each player works hard in there role to provide us with one solid unit ready for the season so lets enjoy it and bring on the victories.

Lets have it Lads!!!!!!!!!!
