Castletown Metropolitan Football Club (Castletown MFC) is a football club based in Castletown, Isle of Man. They compete in the Isle of Man Football League, the top tier of football on the island.
The club was founded in 1892 and has won the Isle of Man Football League championship 11 times, most recently in 1999. They have also won the Isle of Man FA Cup 9 times, most recently in 2000.
History
Castletown MFC was founded in 1892 and played their first game against Peel United on 29th September 1892. They won the game 2-0.
The club won their first Isle of Man Football League championship in 1911. They won the league again in 1919, 1921, 1922, 1923, 1924, 1925, 1927, 1928, and 1933.
The club won their first Isle of Man FA Cup in 1921. They won the cup again in 1922, 1923, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927, 1928, 1929, and 1930.
The club's most successful period was in the 1990s. They won the Isle of Man Football League championship in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, and 1999. They also won the Isle of Man FA Cup in 1995 and 2000.
The club has struggled in recent years. They were relegated from the Isle of Man Football League in 2006 and 2014. They are currently playing in the Isle of Man Football Combination.
Stadium
Castletown MFC play their home games at Malew Road in Castletown. The stadium has a capacity of 2,000 spectators.
The stadium was built in 1920 and has been the home of Castletown MFC ever since. The stadium has been renovated several times over the years, most recently in 2009.
