Cambridge Assessment Academical are the sister team of Cambridge Assessment FC. Originally created in October 2014 as "Cambridge Assessment FC B" to act as a reserve team in the Maverick Soccer 5-a-side League, popularity grew and the team became a full11-a-side team.

In February 2015, Cambridge Assessment FC B took place in their first competition, the MCR Intertoto Cup, where they placed second. They also came second in the John Dewis Cup.

After a busy summer, a lot of players came into the squad and Cambridge Assessment FC B were given sister status to the A-Team, and were renamed "Cambridge Assessment Academical".
