Introduction
The Belarus national football team represents Belarus in international football and is controlled by the Football Federation of Belarus, the governing body for football in Belarus. Belarus' home ground is Dinamo Stadium in Minsk.
History
The Belarus national football team was founded in 1989, following the collapse of the Soviet Union. They made their international debut in a friendly against Lithuania on 20 July 1992, drawing 1-1. Their first competitive match was a UEFA Euro 1996 qualifier against Luxembourg, which they won 2-0.
Belarus has never qualified for the FIFA World Cup or the UEFA European Championship. Their best performance in a major tournament came in the 2018-19 UEFA Nations League, when they finished top of their group and qualified for the play-offs. However, they lost to Georgia in the play-offs and did not qualify for the UEFA Euro 2020.
