ATK Mohun Bagan FC is an Indian professional football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. The club was formed in 2020 by the merger of ATK and Mohun Bagan, two of the most successful clubs in Indian football history.
ATK Mohun Bagan plays its home matches at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, the largest stadium in India. The club has won the Indian Super League (ISL) twice, in 2020-21 and 2021-22, and the Federation Cup a record 8 times.
History
- ATK was founded in 2014 by the Indian multinational conglomerate, the Aditya Birla Group. The club won the ISL in its debut season, in 2014-15.
- Mohun Bagan was founded in 1889 and is one of the oldest football clubs in Asia. The club has won the Indian Football League (I-League) a record 15 times and the Federation Cup a record 8 times.
- The merger of ATK and Mohun Bagan was announced in 2020. The new club, ATK Mohun Bagan, made its debut in the ISL in the 2020-21 season.
