Arewa Football Club is a Nigerian football club based in Abuja. The club was founded in 1995 and currently competes in the Nigeria National League, the second tier of Nigerian football.
Arewa FC has a long history of producing talented players, including former Super Eagles stars like Sunday Oliseh and Austin Okocha. The club has also won several trophies, including the Nigeria National League title in 2002 and the Federation Cup in 2003.
History
Arewa FC was founded in 1995 by a group of businessmen and football enthusiasts from the Arewa region of Nigeria. The club's first home ground was the Old Parade Ground in Abuja.
Arewa FC quickly became one of the most successful clubs in the Nigeria National League, winning the title in 2002. The club also reached the final of the Federation Cup in 2003, but lost to Enyimba.
In 2004, Arewa FC moved to its current home ground, the Arewa Stadium in Abuja. The club has continued to be successful in recent years, winning the Nigeria National League title again in 2017.
Recent Season
Arewa FC had a successful season in 2022-23, finishing in third place in the Nigeria National League. The club also reached the semi-finals of the Federation Cup, where it lost to Remo Stars.
Arewa FC's top scorer in the 2022-23 season was Ibrahim Musa, who scored 15 goals. The club's most capped player was defender Chinedu Udoji, who made 30 appearances.
