Alhoda was founded in 1928 by a group of students from the Al-Azhar University. The club's first president was Mohamed Abdel-Aziz.
Alhoda's most successful period was in the 1960s, when the club won the Egyptian Second Division in 1964 and 1966.
Alhoda has also won the Egyptian Third Division on three occasions: in 1983, 1992, and 2011.
