History
The club was formed as Old Varndeanians Football Club in 1929, when Secondary Old Boys club (which was dominated by former pupils of Varndean School) was renamed and decided only to accept former Varndeanians as players. They were relegated to Division Two in 1930–31, and after finishing bottom of Division Two in 1934–35, were relegated to Division Three. The club changed their name to AFC Varndeanians in 1989. They won the Brighton, Hove & District League title in 1993–94, and the Sussex Senior Cup in 1995–96. They joined the Southern League in 1997, and were promoted to Division One South & West in 2000. They were relegated back to Division Two in 2004, but were promoted again in 2006.
AFC Varndeanians were relegated from Division One South & West in 2010, and joined the Isthmian League Division One South in 2011. They were promoted to the Premier Division in 2015, but were relegated back to Division One South in 2017.
