More about the team
A.F.C Rowood were formed in 1991, by a bunch of drinkers from a small pub in Solihull, called The Golden Acres. In the time since then, the team has had many Names, and equally as many Managers and players..!
From Bar Nevada, to Blackbird Rovers, and Currently Rowood, the team has always played with spirit (usually Vodka), not always good mind, sometimes downright rubbish, but have always endured and kept going..and going....
With 1 Player still playing from those first days, the team has grown into a talented bunch, and in 2006 had a new manager in the form of Mark Aldous, himself a veteran of 14 years. The team has a new found blend of quality and belief, and are at least hoping to match 6 years ago, when they were beaten finalists in the Delmar Cup.
That being the only Claim to honours the team has, the Last 2 seasons have been interesting ones, as the club got to the Semi final of the Senior Cup and finished fourth in the Division 2. As a result the league promoted the Team to Division 1 of the Coronation League. They then went on to secure another top 4 finish and as a result 08/09 will be playing in Premier 1, the highest ever Division the club has appeared in. A major achievement for the manager and his team!
For the 2011/12 season Rowood will be playing in the Coronation Div 3, after a poor showing last season ended in relegation.. Promotion is the aim this season.
