The Boys FC faced off against Boca Juniors FC in a tightly contested league match at Eldorado Park Extension 6 on 20 October 2024, kicking off at 9:00 am. Despite a spirited performance, The Boys FC succumbed to a narrow defeat, with Boca Juniors FC clinching the match 1-0 thanks to a stunning direct free-kick just before half-time.

The Boys FC lined up in a 4-2-1-3 formation, designed to provide a solid defensive base while allowing for attacking flair. Kamva Jonga took his place in goal, shielded by a back four comprising Kyle Ruiters on the right, Alanzo McKenzie and Tyson Bowers in central defence, and Ridwaan Rubidge on the left. The midfield duo of Lonwabo Ntsini and Neillan Abrahams was tasked with controlling the centre of the park, while Tyrique Koeries operated just ahead as the attacking midfielder. Up front, Riaz Rubidge and Nathaniel Ferguson flanked striker Suhail De Koker, who was expected to lead the line and convert chances into goals.

The substitutes for The Boys FC included Jayden Gentle, Warren Meyers, and Quenlin Zovetski, who would be called upon to make an impact as the match progressed.

The match began with an early foul from Tyrique Koeries, who committed a high tackle just a minute in, setting the tone for a physical encounter. Shortly after, Koeries found himself offside, a decision that was correctly called by the assistant referee. The Boys FC began to find their rhythm, with Koeries attempting a shot on goal in the tenth minute, though it failed to trouble the Boca Juniors goalkeeper.

As the first half unfolded, The Boys FC struggled with discipline, with Lonwabo Ntsini and Neillan Abrahams both committing fouls, the latter receiving a warning for a late tackle. The match took a decisive turn in the 39th minute when Boca Juniors FC scored from a direct free-kick taken from outside the box, leaving Kamva Jonga with little chance to respond.

At half-time, The Boys FC made a tactical substitution, bringing on Jayden Gentle for Riaz Rubidge, hoping to inject fresh energy into their attack. The second half commenced with Gentle immediately involved, although he was guilty of a foul just four minutes in. He then attempted a shot in the 51st minute, but it went wide of the target.

The Boys FC continued to push for an equaliser, and in the 60th minute, Warren Meyers replaced Lonwabo Ntsini, aiming to bolster the midfield. However, Meyers soon found himself in the referee's book for a handball in the 62nd minute, further complicating The Boys FC's efforts.

As the match progressed, Tyrique Koeries, who had been a lively presence, was substituted in the 70th minute for Quenlin Zovetski. The Boys FC pressed on, with Gentle attempting to find the net on multiple occasions, including efforts in the 74th, 76th, and a final attempt in the dying moments of the match. Nathaniel Ferguson also had a go in the 78th minute, but Boca Juniors' defence held firm.

Despite their best efforts, The Boys FC could not find the breakthrough they desperately sought, and the match concluded with Boca Juniors FC celebrating a hard-fought victory. Nathaniel Ferguson was recognised for his standout performance, earning the accolade of Player of the Match, but it was not enough to change the outcome for The Boys FC, who will need to regroup and refocus for their next challenge.
