What is the WSFL football league?
The WSFL (Western Sydney Football League) is a semi-professional football league in New South Wales, Australia. It was founded in 1995 and currently consists of 16 clubs. The WSFL is the second-tier football league in New South Wales, below the National Premier Leagues NSW.
History of the WSFL
The WSFL was founded in 1995 by a group of clubs who were unhappy with the direction of the New South Wales State League. The inaugural season of the WSFL featured 12 clubs, and the first champions were Bankstown City.
The WSFL has grown steadily over the years, and currently consists of 16 clubs. The league has also been involved in a number of mergers and expansions, most recently in 2019 when the WSFL absorbed the former Illawarra Premier League.
