Worthing Town FC Football Festival
The Worthing Town FC Football Festival is an annual amateur football tournament held in Worthing, West Sussex, England. The festival is open to teams of all ages and abilities, and is played on a variety of pitches at Palatine Park.
History
The Worthing Town FC Football Festival was first held in 1999. The festival was the brainchild of Worthing Town FC chairman Barry Hunter, who wanted to create a tournament that would give local youngsters the opportunity to play football at a competitive level.
The festival has grown in popularity over the years, and now attracts teams from all over the south of England. In 2022, the festival had over 200 teams participating.
Format
The Worthing Town FC Football Festival is a round-robin tournament. Each team plays a number of matches against other teams in their age group. The top teams in each age group progress to the knockout stages.
The festival is played on a variety of pitches at Palatine Park, which is a 3G artificial turf facility. The pitches are all floodlit, so the festival can be played in the evening.
Prizes
The winning teams in each age group receive trophies and medals. There are also individual awards for the player of the tournament, the top scorer, and the best goalkeeper.
