Wolverhampton And District Football Combination League

The Wolverhampton And District Football Combination League is an amateur football league in the West Midlands, England. It was founded in 1903 as the Wolverhampton and District Church and Chapel League, and was renamed the Wolverhampton and District Amateur League in 1928. The league merged with the Wolverhampton Works Football League in 1996 to form the current league.

The league currently has 10 divisions, with teams from Wolverhampton, West Bromwich, Dudley, and surrounding areas. The top division is the Premier Division, followed by Division One, Division Two, and so on. The league also has a cup competition, the Wolverhampton Combination Cup.

History

Wolverhampton And District Football Cobination action

The Wolverhampton And District Football Combination League was founded in 1903 as the Wolverhampton and District Church and Chapel League. The league was originally open to teams from churches and chapels, but this rule was relaxed in 1928 when the league was renamed the Wolverhampton and District Amateur League.

The league continued to grow in the years following the Second World War, and by the 1960s it had over 100 teams. However, the league began to decline in the 1970s, and by the 1990s it had only around 50 teams.

In 1996, the Wolverhampton And District Football Combination League merged with the Wolverhampton Works Football League to form the current league. The merger helped to revitalize the league, and it has since grown to over 100 teams.
