Wits Internal Football League
The Wits Internal Football League (WIFL) is an amateur football league for students of the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was established in 1967 and is the oldest and largest student football league at higher education level in South Africa.
The WIFL has three divisions: Premier, First, and Second. The Premier Division is the top division and is made up of the best teams in the league. The First Division is the second tier and is made up of teams that are not quite good enough to compete in the Premier Division. The Second Division is the third tier and is made up of teams that are just starting out or that are not as competitive as the teams in the Premier and First Divisions.
The WIFL season runs from April to September. Each team plays each other team in their division once, with the top two teams in each division qualifying for the playoffs. The playoffs are held in October and the winners of the Premier Division and First Division are crowned champions.
The WIFL is a great way for students to get involved in football and to represent their university. It is also a great way to make new friends and to stay fit.
