Weymouth Sunday Football League
The Weymouth Sunday Football League is an amateur football league based in Weymouth, Dorset, England. It was founded in 1923 and currently has over 100 teams competing in its various divisions.
History
The Weymouth Sunday Football League was founded in 1923 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially had just four teams, but it has since grown to become one of the largest Sunday leagues in Dorset.
The league has been sponsored by a number of local businesses over the years, including The Spice Ship, a local restaurant and bar. The current sponsors are not yet known.
Structure
The Weymouth Sunday Football League is divided into four divisions: the Premiership, Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. The league season runs from September to April, with each team playing each other once in a round-robin format.
The top two teams in the Premiership are promoted to the Wessex League, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division One. The top two teams in Division One are promoted to the Premiership, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division Two. The top two teams in Division Two are promoted to Division One, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division Three.
Current season
The current season of the Weymouth Sunday Football League started in September 2022 and is scheduled to end in April 2023. The current Premiership champions are Admiral Hardy FC, while the current Division One champions are Famous Old Spa FC.
