Wear Valley Sunday League
The Wear Valley Sunday League is an amateur football league based in the Wear Valley district of County Durham, England. It was founded in 1921 and currently has 14 clubs competing in two divisions.
History
The Wear Valley Sunday League was founded in 1921 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The inaugural season consisted of just six teams, but the league has grown steadily over the years and now has 14 clubs.
The league has been won by a number of different clubs over the years, but the most successful team is Middlestone Moor, who have won the title 12 times. Other past winners include Coundon WMC, Leeholme WMC, and Willington Black Horse.
Current Season
The current season is the 2022-23 season. The top two teams in each division will be promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams in each division will be relegated to the previous division.
The current leaders of the Wear Valley Sunday League Division 1 are Middlestone Moor, with 36 points from 13 games. They are followed by Leeholme WMC (33 points) and Coundon WMC (30 points).
The current leaders of the Wear Valley Sunday League Division 2 are West Auckland Sports Bar, with 22 points from 14 games. They are followed by Willington Black Horse (20 points) and Toft Hill 3 Tuns (18 points).
