Introduction
The Wakefield & District Sunday Football League is an amateur football league based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1922 and currently has over 100 member clubs.
The league is divided into 10 divisions, with each division having promotion and relegation between them. The top division is the Premier Division, followed by Division One, Division Two, and so on.
The league also has a number of cup competitions, including the Premier Division Cup, the Division One Cup, and the Challenge Cup.
The league season runs from September to May, with each team playing 20-22 games.
History
The Wakefield & District Sunday Football League was founded in 1922. The original chairman was Mr. J.W. Smith, and the first season consisted of just 10 teams.
The league has grown steadily over the years, and now has over 100 member clubs. The Premier Division is currently sponsored by Nostell MW FC.
Current season
The current season (2022-23) began on September 4, 2022. The Premier Division is currently led by Nostell MW FC, followed by Crown Scissett and Fryston AFC.
The league cup competitions are also currently underway. The Premier Division Cup is being contested by the top 16 teams in the Premier Division, while the Division One Cup is being contested by the top 16 teams in Division One.
