The Wragg Football League
The Wragg Football League is an amateur football league based in South Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1985 and currently consists of 10 teams in the Premier Division, 12 teams in Division One, and 10 teams in Division Two. The league is affiliated to the Sheffield & District Football Association.
History
The Wragg Football League was founded in 1985 by John Wragg, a local businessman. The league started with just four teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 30 teams. The league has been sponsored by a number of local businesses over the years, including Wraggs Carpets, which is still the current sponsor.
Structure
The Wragg Football League is divided into three divisions: Premier Division, Division One, and Division Two. The Premier Division is the top division and the teams in this division play each other twice, home and away. The top two teams in the Premier Division at the end of the season are promoted to the next level, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division One.
The teams in Division One and Division Two also play each other twice, home and away. The top two teams in Division One at the end of the season are promoted to the Premier Division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division Two.
Current Season
The current season of the Wragg Football League is the 2022-23 season. The Premier Division is currently being led by Wickersley Old Village Veterans Over 35s, who have won all 15 of their matches so far. Dronfield Town F.C. (over 35's) Veterans are in second place, while Thorncliffe Villa FC Over 35's Veterans are in third place.
