Leicestershire Alliance Football League
The Leicestershire Alliance Football League is an amateur football league in Leicestershire, England. It was founded in 1921 and currently has over 100 teams competing in six divisions.
History
The league was founded in 1921 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially had just four teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 teams competing in six divisions.
The league has been won by a number of different clubs over the years, including Sileby Town, Oadby United, and Braunstone Athletic. The current champions are Countesthorpe United.
Structure
The league is divided into six divisions: Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, Division Three, Division Four, and Division Five.
The Premier Division is the top division, and the teams in this division play each other twice, home and away. The top two teams in the Premier Division are promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League, and the bottom two teams are relegated to Division One.
The other five divisions also play each other twice, home and away. The top two teams in each division are promoted to the division above them, and the bottom two teams are relegated to the division below them.
Cup Competitions
The league also runs a number of cup competitions, including the Leicestershire Alliance Cup, the Leicestershire Alliance Trophy, and the Leicestershire Alliance Challenge Cup.
The Leicestershire Alliance Cup is the most prestigious cup competition in the league, and it is open to all teams in the league. The winner of the Leicestershire Alliance Cup qualifies for the FA Vase.
The Leicestershire Alliance Trophy is open to teams in the Premier Division and Division One. The winner of the Leicestershire Alliance Trophy qualifies for the FA Sunday Cup.
The Leicestershire Alliance Challenge Cup is open to teams in Division Two, Division Three, Division Four, and Division Five.
