Southern Districts Amateur Football League
The Southern Districts Amateur Football League (SDAF) is an amateur football league based in Albany, Western Australia. It was founded in 1966 and currently has 12 clubs competing in its senior men's competition, as well as junior competitions for boys and girls of all ages.
History
The SDAF was founded in 1966 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The inaugural season saw six clubs compete: Albany, Denmark, Hopetoun, Mount Barker, Mt. Romance, and South Stirling. The league has since expanded to its current size of 12 clubs.
The SDAF has produced a number of talented footballers over the years, including former AFL players Brad Green and Daniel Chick. The league also has a strong focus on junior development, and many of its former players have gone on to play at the highest level.
Senior Competition
The SDAF senior competition is played over a 16-round season, with each team playing each other once. The top four teams at the end of the regular season play off in a finals series, culminating in the Grand Final.
The current SDAF senior premiers are the Albany Sharks. The Sharks have won the premiership a record 14 times, and are the most successful team in the league's history.
Junior Competitions
The SDAF offers junior competitions for boys and girls of all ages, from Under 7s to Under 17s. The junior competitions are played on Saturday mornings, and are a great way for kids to get involved in football.
The SDAF also offers a number of development programs for juniors, including skills clinics and coaching courses. These programs are designed to help kids improve their football skills and have fun.
