Southend & Basildon Sunday Football League
The Southend & Basildon Sunday Football League is an amateur football league in Essex, England. It was founded in 1921 and currently has over 100 teams competing in its four divisions.
History
The league was founded in 1921 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The first season consisted of just four teams, but it quickly grew in popularity and now has over 100 teams competing in its four divisions.
The league has a long and proud history, and has produced some notable players over the years, including former England internationals Kevin Beattie and David Platt.
Structure
The league is divided into four divisions: Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. The top four teams from the Premier Division are promoted to the Essex Senior League at the end of the season, while the bottom four teams are relegated to Division One.
The league also has its own cup competitions, including the Premier Division Cup, Division One Cup, and Charity Cup.
Affiliations
The Southend & Basildon Sunday Football League is affiliated to the Football Association. This means that its teams are eligible to compete in the FA Sunday Cup and the FA Vase.
