Southampton Tyro League
The Southampton Tyro League is an amateur football league for boys and girls under the age of 18. It is based in the Southampton area of England.
History
The Southampton Tyro League was founded in 1972. It was originally known as the Southampton & District Youth League. The name was changed to the Southampton Tyro League in 2000.
Structure
The Southampton Tyro League consists of a number of divisions, each for a different age group. The divisions are:
- Under-12
- Under-13
- Under-14
- Under-15
- Under-16
- Under-17
Each division consists of a number of teams. The teams play each other home and away. The top teams at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom teams are relegated to the previous division.
Competitions
The Southampton Tyro League also organizes a number of cup competitions, including:
- The Tyro League Cup
- The Tyro League Challenge Cup
- The Tyro League Plate
- The Tyro League Trophy
The Tyro League Cup is the most prestigious competition in the league. It is open to all teams in the league. The winner of the Tyro League Cup qualifies for the FA Youth Cup.
