History
The Sills And Betteridge Sunday League was founded in 1965 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league started with just 8 teams, but it has grown steadily over the years to its current size of over 100 teams. The league is now one of the largest Sunday leagues in Lincolnshire.
The league is named after Sills & Betteridge, a local law firm that has sponsored the league since its inception. Sills & Betteridge is a long-standing supporter of grassroots football in Lincoln, and their sponsorship of the Sills And Betteridge Sunday League has helped to make it one of the most successful Sunday leagues in the country.
Divisions
The Sills And Betteridge Sunday League consists of 5 divisions: Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, Division Three, and Division Four. The Premier Division is the top division in the league, and it is contested by the best teams in the league. The other divisions are then ranked in descending order of quality.
The league season runs from September to May, with each team playing each other twice in a home and away fixture. The top teams in each division are promoted to the next division, while the bottom teams are relegated to the next division.
Cup competitions
In addition to the league, the Sills And Betteridge Sunday League also runs a number of cup competitions. The most important cup competition is the Sills & Betteridge Cup, which is contested by all the teams in the league. The Sills & Betteridge Cup is a knockout competition, and the winner of the cup is crowned the overall champion of the Sills And Betteridge Sunday League.
The league also runs a number of other cup competitions, including the Presidents Cup, the Chairmans Cup, and the League Cup. These cup competitions are all open to teams from all divisions in the league.
