Sheffield & Hallamshire Women & Girls League
The Sheffield & Hallamshire Women & Girls League (SHWGL) is an amateur football league in England run by the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA. It is the top women's football league in the Sheffield & Hallamshire area, and is affiliated to the FA Women's National League.
History
The SHWGL was founded in 1992, and has grown steadily since then. It currently has over 300 teams playing in a variety of divisions, from Under-8 to Senior level.
The SHWGL has been successful in developing talented players, and many of its players have gone on to play for professional clubs. In recent years, the SHWGL has also been involved in the development of the Women's Super League, and several of its clubs have been promoted to the top flight.
Current season
The 2023-24 season is the 31st season of the SHWGL. The current champions are Sheffield United Ladies, who won the title in the 2022-23 season.
The league is divided into four divisions: Division One, Division Two, Division Three, and Division Four. Each division has 12 teams.
The season runs from September to May, and each team plays each other team twice, once at home and once away.
