SDFL - Salford & Districts Football League
The SDFL - Salford & Districts Football League is an amateur football league based in Salford, Greater Manchester. It was founded in 1921 and currently has over 100 clubs affiliated to it. The league is divided into a number of divisions, with the top division being the Premier Division.
History
The SDFL was founded in 1921 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially had just four divisions, but it has since expanded to include over 100 clubs. The league has also undergone a number of changes to its format over the years. For example, the league used to have a promotion and relegation system, but this was abolished in the early 2000s.
Current Structure
The SDFL currently has 10 divisions, with the top division being the Premier Division. The Premier Division is followed by the First Division, the Second Division, and the Third Division. There are also a number of reserve and junior divisions.
The league season runs from September to April, with each team playing each other twice. The top two teams in the Premier Division are promoted to the Greater Manchester League, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the First Division.
