Surrey County Women's and Girls' Football League (SCWGL)
The Surrey County Women's and Girls' Football League (SCWGL) is an amateur football league for women and girls in Surrey, England. It was founded in 1992 and currently has over 100 clubs and 1,000 teams. The league is divided into four divisions: Premier, Division One, Division Two, and Division Three.
History
The SCWGL was founded in 1992 by a group of women who wanted to provide more opportunities for women and girls to play football in Surrey. The league started with just 12 clubs and 100 teams, but it has grown steadily over the years. In 2023, the league has over 100 clubs and 1,000 teams.
The SCWGL has been successful in promoting women's and girls' football in Surrey. The league has produced a number of talented players who have gone on to play at the highest levels, including England internationals Karen Carney and Rachel Yankey.
Structure
The SCWGL is divided into four divisions: Premier, Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. The Premier Division is the top division, followed by Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. The teams are promoted and relegated between the divisions based on their results at the end of the season.
The league also runs a number of cup competitions, including the SCWGL Cup, the SCWGL Challenge Cup, and the SCWGL Development Cup.
