Sandwell Premier & District Football League
The Sandwell Premier & District Football League is an amateur football league in the Sandwell borough of the West Midlands, England. It was founded in 1967 and currently consists of four divisions: Premier, Premier 1, District 1, and District 2.
The league is affiliated to the Birmingham County Football Association and is a feeder league to the Midland Football League. The Premier Division champions are promoted to the Midland League Division 2, while the bottom four teams in the Premier Division are relegated to the Premier 1 Division.
History
The Sandwell Premier & District Football League was founded in 1967 by a merger of the Sandwell District Football League and the Sandwell Premier Football League. The inaugural season of the league saw 16 teams compete in the Premier Division.
The league has expanded several times over the years and currently consists of 40 teams across four divisions. The Premier Division is the top division, followed by the Premier 1 Division, District 1 Division, and District 2 Division.
Current Season
The 2022-23 season is currently underway. The Premier Division is being contested by 16 teams, including the defending champions, Sporting Sandwell.
The top three teams in the Premier Division at the end of the season will be promoted to the Midland League Division 2, while the bottom four teams will be relegated to the Premier 1 Division.
