Introduction
The Premier League is an amateur football league in England. It is the highest level of amateur football in the country, and is administered by the Football Association. The league consists of 20 teams, and each team plays each other twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams at the end of the season are promoted to the National League North or National League South, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the Northern Premier League Premier Division or Southern League Premier Division.
History
The Premier League was founded in 1987, as a replacement for the old Isthmian League Premier Division. The league was originally called the Football Conference, but was renamed to the Premier League in 2004.
