Introduction
The Poel is an amateur football league in the Netherlands. It was founded in 1928 and is currently divided into three divisions. The top division is called the Poel Hoofdklasse, the second division is called the Poel 1e Klasse, and the third division is called the Poel 2e Klasse.
The Poel is open to all amateur football clubs in the Netherlands. There are currently over 100 clubs competing in the league. The season runs from September to May, and each team plays each other team twice.
The winner of the Poel Hoofdklasse is promoted to the Dutch amateur football league, the Tweede Divisie. The bottom two teams in the Poel Hoofdklasse are relegated to the Poel 1e Klasse. The winners of the Poel 1e Klasse and Poel 2e Klasse are promoted to the Poel Hoofdklasse. The bottom two teams in the Poel 1e Klasse are relegated to the Poel 2e Klasse.
