Perry Street League
The Perry Street and District League, commonly known as the Perry Street League, is a football competition with clubs from south Somerset, west Dorset and East Devon, England.
The league was founded in 1903 and currently has 44 member clubs. The current champions are Forton Rangers.
History
The Perry Street League was founded in 1903 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The first season consisted of just six teams, but the league has since grown to become one of the largest amateur football leagues in the south west of England.
The league has been won by a number of different clubs over the years, but Merriot Rovers are the most successful team, having won the title 22 times.
Format
The Perry Street League is divided into two divisions, the Premier Division and Division One. The top four teams in the Premier Division at the end of the season are promoted to the Western League, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division One.
The bottom two teams in Division One are relegated to the Perry Street and District Division Two, while the top two teams are promoted to the Premier Division.
Current Season
The 2022-23 season is currently underway. The Premier Division is being led by Forton Rangers, while Division One is being led by Chard United.
The season will culminate in the Perry Street League Cup Final, which will be played between the winners of the Premier Division and Division One.
