About the Oxfordshire Youth Football League
The Oxfordshire Youth Football League (OYFL) is an amateur football league for children and young people in Oxfordshire. It was founded in 1978 and currently has over 98 member clubs, with over 640 teams and 8900 players.
The OYFL offers football for players from Under 7s to Under 21s, across four different formats: 5v5, 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11. The league is affiliated to the Oxfordshire FA and follows the FA's Respect programme, which aims to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all players.
The OYFL also has a number of other initiatives in place to promote positive football development, including:
- Inclusive Football: This initiative aims to make football more accessible to all children, regardless of their background or ability.
- Safeguarding: The OYFL has a comprehensive safeguarding policy in place to protect all players.
- Respect: The OYFL is committed to creating a respectful environment for all players, coaches, and officials.
League Structure
The OYFL is divided into a number of different divisions, based on the age and ability of the players. The top division is the Premier Division, followed by the Division 1, Division 2, and so on. There are also a number of cup competitions for players of all ages.
The OYFL season runs from September to April, with each team playing between 10 and 12 matches. The top teams in each division are promoted to the next division, while the bottom teams are relegated.
Recent News
The OYFL recently announced that it has been awarded Equality Chartered League status by Kick It Out. This is a national accreditation scheme that recognizes leagues that are committed to promoting equality and diversity in football.
The OYFL is also planning to launch a new summer tournament in 2023. The tournament will be open to all players from Under 7s to Under 18s and will be held at various venues across Oxfordshire.
