Introduction
The Oxfordshire Women's Small Sided League (OWSSL) is an amateur football league for women in Oxfordshire, England. It was founded in 2016 and currently has over 30 teams competing in three divisions.
The league is affiliated with the Oxfordshire Football Association (OFA) and follows the FA's Small Sided Game rules. Matches are played on 3G pitches and last for 60 minutes.
The OWSSL is a great way for women of all abilities to get involved in playing football. It is a fun and social environment where players can improve their skills and fitness.
Season Structure
The OWSSL season runs from September to April. Each team plays each other team in their division once, home and away. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the lower division.
There is also a knockout cup competition, the OWSSL Cup, which is open to all teams in the league.
Recent Season
The 2022-23 season was the most successful season in the history of the OWSSL. The Summertown Ladies won the league title for the third time, while the Headington Ladies won the cup.
The league also saw the introduction of a new division, the Development Division, for teams that are new to small sided football.
