What is the OTP Bank Liga?
The OTP Bank Liga is the top flight of Hungarian football league system. It is officially named after its title sponsor, OTP Bank. UEFA currently ranks the league 28th in Europe.
The league was founded in 1901 as the Nemzeti Bajnokság I. It has been sponsored by OTP Bank since 2015. The current champions are Ferencvárosi TC.
How does the OTP Bank Liga work?
The OTP Bank Liga consists of 12 teams. Each team plays each other three times, once at home, once away, and once at a neutral stadium. The top two teams at the end of the season qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The third-placed team qualifies for the UEFA Europa League. The bottom two teams are relegated to the Nemzeti Bajnokság II.
