Northampton Town FA
The Northampton Town Football Association (NTFA) is an amateur football league based in Northampton, England. It was founded in 1894 and currently has over 200 member clubs.
History
The NTFA was established in 1894 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The first chairman of the association was Mr. J.H. Taylor. The NTFA initially responsible for all its own administration, disciplinary cases and general business. It was self-governing until 1952, when they started to conduct their own cup competitions.
The NTFA has grown significantly since its inception. In 2019, the association celebrated its 125th anniversary. Today, the NTFA has over 200 member clubs, representing all levels of amateur football.
Cup competitions
The NTFA conducts a number of cup competitions, including:
- The NBC Cup: The NBC Cup is the oldest trophy in the NTFA. It was first won by Northampton Town Football Club in 1894.
- The Goodliff Cup: The Goodliff Cup is the second oldest trophy in the NTFA. It was first won by Northampton Town Swifts in 1903.
- The Russell Cup: The Russell Cup is a knockout cup competition for teams in the Northampton Senior League.
- The Underwood Cup: The Underwood Cup is a knockout cup competition for teams in the Northampton Junior League.
