North Manchester Girls League
The North Manchester Girls League (NMGL) is an amateur football league for girls in the North Manchester area. It was founded in 1999 and currently has over 100 teams competing in various age groups.
League Structure
The NMGL is divided into three divisions: Under-12s, Under-14s, and Under-16s. Each division consists of a mix of teams from local clubs and schools. The teams play each other home and away, with the top teams at the end of the season qualifying for the playoffs.
Recent Season
The 2022-23 season was a successful one for the NMGL. The Under-12s division was won by Tameside United, the Under-14s division was won by Crompton Jets, and the Under-16s division was won by Broadheath Central FC.
The NMGL also hosted the North West Girls Cup in 2023. The cup was won by Crompton Jets, who defeated Tameside United in the final.
Future Plans
The NMGL is looking to expand in the coming years. It plans to add a new division for Under-18s teams and to start a girls' football academy.
The NMGL is also committed to promoting girls' football in the North Manchester area. It runs a variety of initiatives to encourage girls to play football, including coaching courses and girls' football festivals.
