Newport & District Football League
The Newport & District Football League is an amateur football league covering the city of Newport and surrounding areas in South Wales. It was founded in 1901 and is currently sponsored by The Monmouthshire Building Society.
The league consists of four divisions plus a Sunday division. The top-level consists of a premier division split into "Premier X" and "Premier Y" (for reserve teams), and two feeder divisions numbered 1 and 2. The Sunday division is called the "Monmouthshire Building Society Sunday League".
The league has a total of 80 clubs, with around 1,000 players registered. The most successful club in the league's history is Marshfield AFC, who have won the Premier Division a record 20 times.
Recent Season
The 2022-23 season is currently underway. The Premier X Division is being led by Marshfield AFC, who have won all 18 of their games so far. In the Premier Y Division, Cwmbran Celtic FC 3rd Team are top of the table.
In Division 1, Newport Corinthians FC 3rd Team are in first place, while in Division 2, Alway FC 2nd Team are leading the way. The Sunday League is being dominated by AFC Pontymister FC, who have won all 27 of their games so far.
