Met Div 5
Met Div 5 is an amateur football league in London, England. It is the fifth tier of the Spartan South Midlands League, which is the ninth tier of the English football league system.
The league was formed in 1997 as a merger of the Metropolitan League and the South Midlands League. It currently consists of 20 teams, which play each other twice, once at home and once away.
Current Season
The current season of Met Div 5 began in August 2022 and is scheduled to end in May 2023. The current champions are Sporting Bengal United.
History
The Metropolitan League was founded in 1922 as a successor to the London League. It was originally a single division league, but was expanded to two divisions in 1971. The league merged with the Spartan League in 1997 to form the Spartan South Midlands League.
The South Midlands League was founded in 1977 as a merger of the Athenian League and the United Counties League. It was originally a single division league, but was expanded to two divisions in 1984. The league merged with the Metropolitan League in 1997 to form the Spartan South Midlands League.
