About the Masters Football League MFL
The Masters Football League MFL is a Malaysian social football league open to Malaysian social teams comprising exclusively of players over the age of 40.
The league was founded in 2014 with the goal of providing a friendly and purely social football platform for senior veterans to continue in or re-enter the arena of football after reaching the age of 40.
The MFL currently has two divisions, the Red Division and the Green Division. Each division consists of 8 teams. The teams play each other once in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each division advancing to the playoffs.
The MFL season runs from March to October. The playoffs are held in October, with the winners of each division meeting in the Grand Final.
Rules and regulations
The MFL rules and regulations are available on the league's website. Some of the key rules include:
- All players must be over the age of 40.
- There is no limit on the number of foreign players per team.
- The game is played under FIFA rules, with some modifications for the over-40 age group.
- There is no offside rule.
- Each team is allowed a maximum of three substitutes per game.
