Manawatu Senior Football
Manawatu Senior Football is an amateur football league in the Manawatu region of New Zealand. It is governed by Central Football Federation, the governing body for football in the Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Manawatu, Wanganui, Taranaki regions.
History
Manawatu Senior Football was founded in 1920. The first season was played in 1921, with eight teams competing. The league has grown steadily over the years, and now has over 50 teams competing in a variety of divisions.
Divisions
Manawatu Senior Football has a number of divisions, each with its own set of rules and regulations. The top division is the Premier League, which is contested by the best teams in the region. The other divisions are the Championship, Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3.
Teams
There are a number of well-known teams in Manawatu Senior Football, including Marist, Red Sox, Palmerston North Marist, and Massey University. These teams have a long history of success in the league, and have produced many talented players who have gone on to play at the professional level.
Registration
Registration for Manawatu Senior Football is open to all players aged 16 and over. Players can register online or by contacting the league office.
Season
The Manawatu Senior Football season runs from March to September. The season is divided into two parts, the regular season and the playoffs. The regular season consists of a round-robin format, with each team playing each other once. The top teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the playoffs. The playoffs consist of a semi-final and a final, with the winner of the final being crowned the Manawatu Senior Football champions.
